Peter Wiethe, M.A., LMHC
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a theological background, I provide individual, group, pre-marital, marriage and family therapy. There is evidence to suggest that therapy and medication are often the most effective and quickest combination to heal emotional pain, so I encourage clients to meet with one of our two Medical Doctors who specialize in mental health. I use research and evidence-based counseling from a Christian perspective to help people live out their lifelong marriage covenant. This sometimes involves affair recovery in which decoding the message of the affair, then rebuilding and repair a marriage can result in a much deeper intimacy. I offer a Men’s Group dealing with pornography, alcohol or drug use, overeating, Internet overuse, excessive work. I attempt to help identify and heal Core Hurts such as feeling disrespected, powerless, ashamed, guilty, and unlovable, which underlie these habits to help manage anger, and start to forgive (not forget). Having adult AD/HD myself, I assist people with problems in relationships, at work, with time management, low self-esteem, frustration, impulsivity, organization, and impatience. Along with treating anxiety and depression I help people learn to cope with pain and illness, life transitions and adjustments, grief and loss from the perspective of the Paschal Mystery of Christ. With a background in ministry, I offer pastoral counseling such as dealing with moral and ethical issues, bringing Biblical insights on contemporary problems, and help with Spiritual discernment.
